We had 10 students in our class that made their AR goal for this grading period: Abby, Alyssa, Charlotte, Journey, Luke G., Luke H., Rachel, Shae, Swathi, and Zeke. They were given an ice cream sundae at lunch on Friday (thanks, PTA!) and some free time to play with computers. Congratulations!
Congratulations to both Trey and Shae! (And also to Kyle and Ethan in Mrs. Hall's homeroom!) Starting with 16 spellers, Trey made it 7 rounds before being tripped up by "ballad". Shae won first place and will represent West Terrace in February at the Vanderburgh County Spelling Bee!
Albert and Archie have been a bit more comfortable lately and have been roaming around the cage more often during the day. The students will be able to start holding them soon. Here are some pictures and a video of our class pets. The Spelling Bee representatives for our class this year are Trey and Shae! Congratulations! Our alternate is Jonathan. The event will take place on Thursday, October 9 at 1:45.
Each homeroom at West Terrace writes a Mission Statement each year that is personalized to that class. Here is what the class created: We, the ninjas of room 25,
are striving to become trustworthy, optimistic, and unified. We know more is achieved together than alone. Ninjas know what is right, fair, and true. We are ninjas. What are you? I am so proud of my ninjas! When one student asked if there was anything she could do to help around the class, I showed her how to label the chapter book for AR- including both book levels and quiz numbers. Within three days, about half the class voluntarily came together and started helping each other. Without ever being given further instructions, they developed a system that worked wonderfully and have labeled hundreds of books. Some students put stickers on, some looked up the levels online and wrote them, others sorted the books into levels. Here are a few pictures of the students working!
