The students took a field trip to the Evansville Museum & Planetarium today! The trip had two parts. In the first half, students participated in a "Mysteries at the Museum" activity involving the scientific method. They use a combination of alibis, motives, handwriting analysis, ink chromatography analysis, and fingerprint identification to determine who stole the cheese doodles! Afterwards, they watched Skies Over Evansville, narrated by Mitch Luman. They were able to see various constellations, planets, galaxies, and other night sky features under the control of the amazing Koch Immersive Theater. The graphics were AMAZING, and the shows at the Theater are highly recommended!! Here are some pictures:
This year, we will use various collaborative structures throughout all of the classes. They allow students to move more, talk about the topic, and learn from others. The social skills do not always come naturally, so we will teach them and practice them often.
