All of this week and some of the week after will be focused on multiplying and dividing decimals. This unit is really a combination of all of the units we have completed so far: multiplication, division, and decimal place value. They will have the option to take the pre-test on Monday, October 20 in order to compact out of this unit if they feel that they are already able to complete this work.

The 5th grade standards specifically state that students need to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with decimals to the hundredths place, including money. By the end of this unit, we will have covered all of it. (It's amazing how much can be packed into one little sentence!) Although it's a bit early to tell for sure, I would expect a test around October 29th.
