Our WT Legendary Leaders Wax Museum was a success this year thanks to the hard work of
Mrs. Schefer, Mrs. Paul, and every fifth grade student! This was a nearly month-long project that incorporated a long list of 5th grade reading and language arts standards, ranging from speaking skills to main ideas and summarizing to researching. Every student chose a legendary leader to research. The research included basic biographical information as well as obstacles that person was able to overcome. The students created a slideshow with pictures and information, created a poster backdrop, created a costume, and wrote and memorized a 1-minute summary of their findings. We invited parents and the other staff and classrooms in the school to visit our museum. Below are some pictures of the days before the opening, the day of the presentations, and some pictures of the kids finally relaxing after a very tough day!

Below is a video that Mrs. White took during the presentations. It helps you get a feel for what it was like in the classrooms on Friday! It was loud overall, but we had the students spread out as much as possible in the classrooms and hallway.
I attempted to get a video of our entire class posed as the wax figures, but couldn't quite make it work! The first one was going GREAT until my phone ran out of storage. I fixed that problem, and tried it again in the afternoon, but the kids just couldn't hold it together that late in the day! (and I really, really can't blame them!) I was able to get most of the kids in each video. I hope it gives you an idea of what it was like in the room if you weren't able to attend.
